About

When Roman emperor Constantine the Great invaded Italy in 312, he faced impossible odds. But this battle would change the world. The army of Maxentius blocked his path at Turin with heavy cavalry and infantry. Constantine's smaller force seemed doomed. Instead of retreating, Constantine launched his cavalry into the enemy flank, shattering their line. Turin fell. His audacity secured Italy and the Empire's future. By 324, Constantine ruled a united empire. He embraced Christianity, founding churches and enacting the Edict of Milan. A new era began. Constantine founded Constantinople, a new capital for a Christian empire. His mother Helena discovered the True Cross. His legacy shaped the world for centuries. 📄 Image Credits All images via Wikimedia Commons:- Constantine the Great: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rome-Capitole-StatueConstantin.jpg - Battle of Turin: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Constantine-Maxentius.jpg - Head of Constantine the Great, York: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bust_of_Constantine_I_from_York_YORYM_1998_23.jpg - Constantinople: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Byzantine_Constantinople-en.png See links for full license details. 🔔 Subscribe for more forgotten stories from history: [Your Channel Link] 💬 What do you think was Constantine the Great’s most lasting impact on the world? #history #cronologia #romanempire #ancientrome #constantinethegreat #militaryhistory #christianhistory #edictofmilan #constantinople #byzantine
