Joko Widodo

Joko Widodo grew up in a riverside slum in Surakarta, selling furniture alongside his father. On October 20, 2014, he would raise his right hand and change history. His mother, Sudjiatmi, a bamboo seller, watched her son rise from a furniture maker to mayor of Surakarta, then governor of Jakarta. But the presidency seemed impossible. The 2014 election pitted the former furniture seller against former general Prabowo Subianto. The odds were against him, but Jokowi connected with ordinary Indonesians. On October 20, 2014, Joko Widodo stood in the DPR/MPR building. With Jusuf Kalla at his side, he took the oath of office, becoming Indonesia's 7th president. His Working Cabinet prioritized infrastructure and social welfare. Over 10 years, his government built thousands of kilometers of roads, bridges, and airports across the archipelago. From the Onward Indonesia Cabinet to his final years, he remained grounded. His grandson Jan Ethes, born in 2016, often accompanied him, a symbol of humble beginnings. 📄 Image Credits All images via Wikimedia Commons:- Joko Widodo: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Joko_Widodo_2019_official_portrait.jpg - Sudjiatmi: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sudjiatmi.jpg - first inauguration of Joko Widodo: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:JokowiPresidentialOath.jpg - Working Cabinet: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Kabinet_Kerja_Jokowi-JK_2014.jpg - Jan Ethes Srinarendra: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Joko_Widodo_and_Iriana_at_Yogyakarta_Palace_in_June_2019.jpg See links for full license details. 🔔 Subscribe for more forgotten stories from history: [Your Channel Link] 💬 What moment in Jokowi's journey from slum to presidency inspires you most? #history #cronologia #indonesia #frompovertytopresident #jokowi #indonesiahistory #inspiration #pemilu2014 #politicalupset #indonesiaelection #inauguration #sejarahindonesia #7thpresident #infrastructure #indonesiamaju #pembangunan #family #legacy #janethes
